Job Description

Applicants must possess a minimum of B.Sc/HND degree in Electrical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics or a Bachelor of Law. Applicant must possess at least a second-class lower (2:2) in the mentioned disciplines and must possess a minimum of 3 years’ relevant post-qualification experience. Licenses and certifications for intellectual property will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities
a. To handle the CU-IPTTO Section
b. To manage the University’s Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), R&D commercialization, IP sensitization, and capacity building.
c. Advice in Intellectual Property (IP) formulation and commercialization policies.
d. Handle the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer of the University in line the DLi5.3 of the CApIC-ACE projects.
e. Obtaining trademarks and patent for new products or services presented by the Institution
f. Relate with external establishments on issues regarding Intellectual Property.
g. Investigating patent utilization, commercial offensive and defensive value to help make decisions to maintain or abandon patents.
h. Supports all aspects of the University’s intellectual property program, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets
i. Evaluates issued patents, prepare or obtain analysis, and ensures management is informed on aspects of intellectual property rights owned by other entities.
j. Oversee and direct the preparation of copyright registrations and recordation of licenses and agreements.
k. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Covenant University Centre for Research Innovation and Discovery (CUCRID).

Applicants with first degrees MUST have completed the mandatory one-year National Youth Service. He or she must be God-fearing and have good communication skills. Those applying for the technologist position are required to possess appropriate skills and orientation for their respective disciplines, as well as possess teaching abilities with adequate research experience.
